The Ocean Friendly Restaurants is an offshoot of our Rise Above Plastic Program, where restaurants can get certified for using practices that reduce single use plastics and help the environment in other ways.

Expanded polystyrene, EPS foam is sometimes called by its trademarked name Styrofoam. It is one of the most commonly found items on beaches during beach cleanups along with single use plastics like bags, straws, plastic utensils and plastic bottles. Restaurants that are “Ocean Friendly” pledge to reduce or eliminate these items from their businesses. We in turn want you to eat there.  Read all of the OFR criteria here  http://www.surfrider.org/programs/ocean-friendly-restaurants. If you are interested in becoming an Ocean Friendly Restaurant please contact Chapter Secretary Marina Feeser at: secretary@oceancity.surfrider.org

The First OFR in Maryland got some good press coverage here.  And here as well on WMDT.
