Once again, a coalition of groups are working in Annapolis to ban expanded polystyrene foam, EPS foam, in food service establishments in Maryland. Last year we came close but the bill did not pass.
We are following the lead of the Trash Free Maryland, who is the main proponent of the bill. So on February 6th, Surfrider Foundation volunteer coordinator Malcolm Taylor testified on HB109 to the committee. He cited data on how much foam we have actually picked up during our beach cleanups.
Finally, you too can help us get this law passed by emailing your legislators. We have an Action Alert here where you can change the content of the letter (which is really important to do.) Please take a minute to do this.
