July Community Cleanups: OC & Baltimore

Clean Beaches & Community Partnership: OC Community Cleanup

Around 100 volunteers and several community organizations gathered on 4th Street in Ocean City on Tuesday, July 9th for another Community Beach Cleanup. Working together, we were able to collect 325 pounds off the beach, boardwalk, and surrounding streets. We are so grateful for all of the volunteers who showed up! Community partners who were represented included: The Town of Ocean City, The OC Green Team, The OC Chamber of Commerce, Ocean City Surf Club, Maryland Coastal Bays Program, Assateague Coastal Trust, The OC Beach Heroes, and so many more!

Celebrating Community and Conservation: Middle Branch Park Canoe and Scoop

On Saturday, July 13th, 2024 the banks of the Patapsco River were alive with the spirit of community and environmental stewardship as nearly 60 enthusiastic individuals gathered for the Middle Branch Park Canoe and Scoop Community Clean Up. Sponsored by Patagonia Baltimore, LifeStraw, Blue Water Baltimore, and Baltimore City Parks and Recreation, this event was more than just a cleanup—it was a celebration of our natural spaces and a testament to the power of collective action. Participants arrived by both land and sea, converging on Middle Branch Park with a shared goal: to clean up and protect the Patapsco River. Participants collected nearly 400 lbs of trash in two hours! After a morning of hard work, the volunteers and organizers gathered for some food and friendship. Alicia and the crew from Patagonia Baltimore prepared a home cooked BBQ feast.  We had the opportunity to share the Surfrider Foundation Mission with many of the participants and we came really close to our goal of 8 new members! It wasn’t just a cleanup; it was a community coming together, bonding over a shared mission and a love for nature. We look forward to working with you guys again <3.
